MMS and Electronic Clearing House, Inc.

The Multilevel Management System is a certified software program for submitting your credit card transactions electronically to Electronic Clearing House, Inc. (ECHO). This optional module can save you time and money if you take credit cards either in person or over the phone.

What does this mean to you?

  1. No duplicate entry of credit card transactions in your software and your credit card terminal.
  2. No need to buy a separate credit card terminal saving you $$$ and desk space. Terminals can range from $400 to $2000.
  3. If you perform face-to-face sales with your customers, MMS supports any 2-track credit card reader that has a keyboard interface. This allows you swipe your customer's credit card and the information is automatically entered into MMS, the card information is optionally saved under the customer record for a future purchase, and you will receive the swipe rate for that transaction which is generally much lower than the manual key rate. See our Retail Accessories page for information on ordering a stand-alone card reader or an integrated keyboard/card reader. The card scanner is optional and not required for use with the MMS Clearing House module.
  4. If you take credit card orders over the phone, mail, or Internet, performing an address verification (AVS) is important to detect fraud and lower your credit card transaction fees. MMS fully supports AVS by automatically submitting the customer's address and zip code with the credit transaction. This saves you a large percentage of each credit card transaction with no additional work on your part. Some credit card terminals do not support AVS at all or only partial (i.e. zip code only) which increases your credit card fees.
  5. Using the optional receipt printer, MMS will print the credit card receipt including a signature area upon approval to the same printer that prints the customer's invoice. No need for a manual card imprint or expensive credit card receipt printer that attaches to your credit card terminal. Again, saving you $$$ and desk space. The receipt printer is optional and not required.
  6. For the price of a separate credit card terminal, you can add a receipt printer, credit card scanner, and the MMS Clearing House module to the MMS software. Not only will you save time completing your transactions, you will save money whether you are swiping or manually entering the credit card information PLUS you'll have the receipt printer for printing customer receipts as an added bonus.

How does this work and eliminate a need for a separate credit card terminal?

  1. When entering a payment into MMS, you simply indicate it is a credit card transaction.
  2. If you are swiping the card and have an attached credit card reader, you swipe the card through your reader and MMS deciphers the information on the magnetic track on the back of the card.
  3. If you are not swiping the card because the customer is not present or the card's magnetic track is worn, enter the card number, expiration date and AVS information (optional but recommended to reduce the credit card fees) on the payment window. If the card's information was previously saved under that customer's record, you can also just push the "Use Credit Card" button and the card's information (including AVS data) is automatically retrieved and used.
  4. Press the Send Transaction button. MMS automatically dials your modem in your computer and transmits the transaction information to ECHO. During this submission time, you can perform other tasks within MMS.
  5. Upon receipt of an approval, the credit card receipt will print if you have a receipt printer attached.
  6. This process will save you a tremendous amount of time compared with having to key information into a separate terminal or web page for card validation.

What if I'm not an ECHO merchant or don't take credit cards?

  1. If you are not currently with ECHO, as an authorized ECHO agent, we will be glad to compare the rates you are currently paying with ECHO's low rates. Sign up with ECHO through Sunshine Support Services and the module at no cost.
  2. If you don't take credit cards currently and would like to stop missing out on lost sales because of it, we have found ECHO to be very easy to get approved with and have a low rate as well. Again, contact us and we'll help you get started.
